Conscious Living

I have nothing to sell you. Nothing here that is “new”. I invite you to set aside your spiritual concepts and second-hand knowledge, that you may abide wholeheartedly in the fullness of your own true Self.  – Shambo ~ Mark

ACIM (A Course In Miracles) – A Profound Impact

I typically don’t make a lot of teacher and/or spiritual practice recommendations as I believe grace is quite capable of bringing into each of our lives exactly what we need at any given moment during our awakening process.

With that being said, there are also moments when I’m also prompted and reminded of how grace synchronistically played a major part in my being introduced to the many teachings and practices that have assisted me greatly along my own journey towards discovering the Self.

One such teaching and series of writings which did have a rather profound effect on me at the age of 21 was ACIM (A Course In Miracles). It was Marianne Williamson’s  “A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles” that first prompted me to explore the Course itself more intimately. A Course in Miracles – often abbreviated ACIM or simply called the Course – is a complete self-study spiritual thought system. As a three-volume curriculum consisting of a Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers, it teaches that the way to universal love and peace or remembering God is by undoing guilt through forgiving others.

Over the years even after completing the workbook lessons on more than one occasion and immersing myself fully as best I could into the course principles, I’ve often been drawn back to the text and its principles. They are quite profound upon first reading but it’s rather beautiful to discover their timelessness as I peer back into the lessons and text occasionally.

What exactly, then, is A Course in Miracles? The summary from its Introduction, which appears on page one of the Text, is quite succinct and brief but describes its core teaching perfectly. It reads:

“This Course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:
     Nothing real can be threatened.
     Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.” (T-In.1:1-8,2:1-4)
