KNOWING This Love Is Able

Authentic spiritual awakening is not creating some blissful bubble of indifference to exist in, apathetic, apart and untouched from the despair and suffering of humanity. Although in the beginning it can certainly feel that this is so.

In the deepest and most mature state our awakening will equip us to feel even more acutely the sufferings and despair of this world and those in it.

On so many mornings I still wake up with this hopelessness. A heavy burden of despair and sadness eclipses all of my own inner joy.

The difference now being that on these days I do not push this sadness away nor run from it. I courageously meet my own heart’s suffering with even greater hope, compassion and love.

For it is in this seeming continual, repeated healing of my own heart that I know that I am also healing the world and those in it. In this we trust because we KNOW this love is able.
